ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) - An elderly woman has died after being struck by a vehicle on County Road 46 in Freeborn County just before 7 p.m. Friday.

When deputies arrived they found Maureen Ruble, 80, face down in a ditch. She was breathing at the time but was unresponsive.

Ruble was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea where she later died of her injuries.

At the time of the accident, Ruble was walking north across County Road 46 after checking her mail on the south side of the road. According to the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office, a minivan traveling west on the road struck Ruble with the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Authorities say the driver of the minivan was a 65-year-old woman. The accident is still under investigation but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
