Posted: Updated:

WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Winona building official said Friday that the deck that collapsed and injured eight people Saturday was up to code.

Steve Carson said the owner of the apartment building has since replaced the landing. A building official inspected the new landing on Tuesday and deemed it up to city codes.

Police said the landing at the apartment on the 100 block of West Mark Street collapsed Saturday afternoon during a party. Eyewitnesses say more than 20 people were seen standing and dancing on the deck when it gave way.

Police say no citations have been issued.
