ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The dedication of the Helen and Jim Crossingham Family Lobby took place Thursday morning at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester, as doctors, nurses and Saint Mary's staff gathered to take part in the blessing of the new waiting room.
Jim Crossingham donated a substantial amount of money to Saint Marys Hospital and the Mayo Clinic because of the great care and compassion he felt during his time as a patient.
The family saw the need of the emergency room at Saint Marys.. and wanted patients to feel comforted during vulnerable moments in their life like Crossingham did.
"I cant stress enough the debt of gratitude that I have for the doctors the nurses and the staff that were so wonderful with me," Crossingham said Thursday.
Crossingham went on to say that it is rare to see hospitals be so self giving to patients.
Crossingham said he believes that he makes a living with what he earns, but makes a life with what he gives away.
Saint Marys officials say the building will be open to the public on November 11th.
