ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) -- An Albert Lea man accused of burglary and killing a dog made his first court appearance on Thursday.
Trouper Gilbertson, 24, is charged with first-degree burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and animal cruelty.
Investigators say Gilbertson burglarized a home in the 400 block of Commercial Street in Albert Lea and cut a dog's throat on Sunday. The dog later died at the vet's office.
