Grand jury: No charges in Fillmore County death

near RUSHFORD, Minn. (KTTC) -- Authorities say no charges will be filed after a freak accident over the summer left one man dead and his family in mourning.

47-year old Jeffery Taylor was tending cattle at a property in Arnedahl township on June 15th when he was invited to a party at a neighbor's.

Taylor was standing with a group of people behind someone shooting at explosive targets for entertainment, and was apparently struck by shrapnel.

Authorities said Taylor sustained a wound to his abdomen in the accident. He was driven to nearby location where crews from the Rushford Ambulance and Mayo One attended to him, but he was pronounced dead at that location.

A grand jury has reviewed the case and determined that no crime was committed.
