EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KTTC) -- A 2-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has died.
According to Sioux Falls police, the boy passed away from his injuries at a hospital Friday afternoon.
The boy was found unresponsive in a Sioux Falls home. The mother's boyfriend, Joseph Patterson, 27, is accused in the case and is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery on an infant for harming the boy who was in his care.
Peterson was back on the practice field Friday and was asked about the situation.
"I really appreciate all of the support that I have been receiving from the fans, the Vikings organization," Peterson said. "This is a private matter and I'll ask you all to please respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand. Thanks. 'Preciate it."
At a court appearance Friday, Joseph Patterson was ordered held on $750,000 cash bond.
