Discussions continue over government standoff

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican senators who'll meet with President Barack Obama at the White House today say they'll present their own options for ending the partial government shutdown and the debt limit standoff.

Obama met yesterday with House Republicans, after which the White House said "no specific determination was made."

The debt standoff is likely to be the prime topic when the 188-nation International Monetary Fund and the World Bank meet in Washington this weekend.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke will represent the United States at the discussions.
