ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Minnesota Viking and Rochester native is home this weekend during the team's bye week.
Marcus Sherels signed autographs Friday at the grand re-opening of Sam's Club in Rochester.
Sherels is a cornerback and punt returner for the Vikings. He attended John Marshall High School before heading to the University of Minnesota to play football.
He said it's great to be home, especially with the support he's getting with his new status as a Minnesota Viking.
"It's awesome. Receiving all the support I have coming back home and being a hometown kid. People are being great to me," Sherels said.
On Friday, Sherels was supporting the RT Autism Awareness Foundation and is volunteering his time to help the group unveil its 2014 Mending Minds Gala lineup.
