ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Rochester police K9 recently took top honors at a national contest.

Rochester police sergeant Mike Drees and his K-9 partner, Chase, spent the past week competing at the United States Police Canine Association trials in Charles County, Maryland.

Mike and Chase finished first in the nation in the criminal apprehension category, where obedience, agility, biting and recall are all judged.

Chase is a 7-year-old Belgian Malinois Shepherd.

Congratulations to Sgt. Drees and Chase!
