Hawks, Owls, Falcons, Oh My! Birds of Prey at National Eagle Center

WABASHA, Minn. (KTTC) -- In honor of Septoberfest going on in Wabasha, the National Eagle Center held a special Birds Prey Event over the weekend, and many area residents flocked over to see it.

On display were eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls.  Wisconsin's Raptor Education group put on part of the event.  The group rehabilitates 800-900 birds a year, including Merlin Falcons.  Two of those beautiful falcons were released back into the wild today.

"They are wild and they know everything they need to know to be successful in the wild.  So, they are very anxious to go, and we are anxious to allow them to have a wildlife," says Raptor Education rehabilitator Marge Gibson.

The birds were sent off together and took off down the road.  The duo has already been fed too. Gibson says she likes to pack them a lunch before they go.
