UPDATE: 8 hurt in two-vehicle crash near Eyota

EYOTA, Minn. (KTTC) -- Eight people are hurt after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 42 and Highway 14 east.

The Minnesota State Patrol says an Acura TL was headed north on Highway 42 and a Ford Explorer was headed east on Highway 14 at about 7 p.m. Friday. The Acura TL attempted to cross Highway 14 when it was hit by the Explorer. 

The driver of the Acura TL, Robin Donegan, 25, of Coralville, Iowa, and passenger Christine Weber, 25, of Cedar Rapids, were taken to Saint Marys Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Explorer, Maria Oropeza-Beltran, 34, of Rochester, and passengers Anahi Florentino, 30, Yuririana Roldan-Florentino, 12, Jorge Roldan, 3, Kenia Roldan, 9, and David Roldan, 4, also of Rochester, were taken to Saint Marys Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Passengers Jorge Roldan, 32, and Rosa Roldan, 5, didn't appear to be hurt, according to the state patrol. 

The injured were transported by Mayo Clinic helicopter and ambulance. 

Gold Cross Ambulance, Eyota Ambulance, St. Charles Ambulance, Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, Eyota Fire and Dover Fire responded to the crash.

The state patrol closed the intersection for more than an hour.

The intersection of Highway 42 and Highway 14 east has been known to be dangerous and has been the scene of fatal accidents in the past.
