ALC students and staff receive welcome

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A special welcome Friday for students and staff of the new Rochester Alternative Learning Center.

Southeast Service Cooperative and people from the Wood Lake Drive neighborhood hosted an ice cream social.

It was a chance for students and staff to get to know the neighborhood.

"It's a very eclectic area, the Wood Lake Drive area," said Nicole LaChapelle with Southeast Service Cooperative.  "We've never had a school, so they were just hoping they'd be accepted and so far we've had nothing but positive comments about them moving in and we're really happy they're here."

Faculty members helped design the layout for the Alternative Learning Center.

The new facility was converted into a school in just seven months.
