Students get advice from songwriting pros

Posted:

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Local musicians are lending their voices to help music students see develop their song-writing skills, and see what it takes to become a professional musician.

Brandon Sampson of the group Six Mile Grove, and Sally Barris are both professional artists in the Rochester area. They put on a songwriting workshop Thursday for students at Lourdes High School.

The artists say they're also taking their seminars around to different high schools throughout southeastern Minnesota.

In addition to songwriting, Sampson and Barris are also talking to students about being a professional musician.
