Investigation into downtown Winona fire is complete

WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- Officials say the investigation into the devastating fire in downtown Winona earlier this month is complete.

The Winona Fire Department says investigators are certain the fire originated between the ceiling and roof of the Winona Islamic Center.

Investigators had been focusing on a possible electrical cause, but the department said no final ruling was made on the fire's cause.

But authorities don't believe arson was involved in the Sept. 13 fire.

The fire destroyed two buildings, including the Islamic Center, and heavily damaged a third.
