ORONOCO, Minn. (KTTC) -- Police say the man who suffered serious injuries in a moped crash in Oronoco Thursday has been cited for inattentive driving.
Authorities say a moped driven by Wayne Nord, 53, and an SUV were driving north on County Road 18 at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
The SUV went to take a left turn onto 130th Street when it was rear ended by the moped.
Police say Nord was not wearing a helmet and was airlifted to Saint Marys Hospital with serious head injuries.
According to police, Nord has been cited with inattentive driving in the crash.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says inattentive driving is a factor in one in four crashes each year, resulting in at least 70 deaths and 350 serious injuries.
