SARTELL, Minn. (AP) -- Crews have extinguished an office fire at the site of the former Verso Paper mill in Sartell that was closed by a deadly explosion and fire last year.
The fire Thursday was in one of the buildings sitting vacant since the explosion and fire a year ago Memorial Day in another part of the mill that killed an employee.
Sartell Fire Marshal Butch Rieland tells the St. Cloud Times that workers were cutting window frames out the building, and something in the office apparently was left smoldering.
A worker tried putting out the fire before firefighters arrived. No one was hurt. Two offices were burned out.
AIM Development purchased the property from Verso Paper. Last month, the company received an interim use permit from Sartell to demolish the site.
