Doors open at West Concord Public Charter School

WEST CONCORD, Minn. (KTTC) -- After 5 years of planning and preparation, West Concord Public Charter School opened its doors and kicked off the new school year with a grand opening ceremony Wednesday night.

Preparations were well underway Wednesday afternoon for the grand opening as construction workers put the finishing touches on the new building.

Inside the school, there was a flurry of activity as teachers prepped their classrooms for the incoming students.

One school board member said WCPCS will offer it's students a unique learning experience.

"We have very small class sizes,  so it will be a lot of hands-on learning. We have the core knowledge curriculum which is a back-to-basics approach," said board member Kay Hanson.

WCPCS is a K-8 school, which currently has about 50 students enrolled.

The first day of classes is Tuesday.
