CANNON FALLS, Minn. (KTTC) -- Authorities are investigating the cause of an accident involving a skid loader that left a 5-year-old Cannon Falls boy dead.
Deputies were called at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the scene at 29510 Sunset Trail in Cannon Falls Township.
According to the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Mallett, 5, was riding in the bucket of a skid loader when he fell out and became stuck under the machine.
Matthew was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System - Cannon Falls where he passed away from his injuries.
The driver of that skid loader was Matthew's great-aunt, Gail Henderson, 49, who lives with Matthew's family in their rural Cannon Falls home.
No charges have been filed in the case.
The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office says they believe Matthew fell out of the bucket, but the exact cause of how the accident happened is still under investigation.
