Rochester city council approves increase in lodging tax


ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Rochester City Council approved an increase in the city's lodging tax on Monday night.

The tax was raised from 4 percent to 7 percent.

The new tax revenue will be used for improvements to the Mayo Civic Center.

The tax increase was approved by the state government during the 2013 legislative session.
