ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A fire broke out in northwest Rochester Wednesday night, forcing three people to find somewhere else to stay.
Fire officials say a friend was visiting a home on the 4000 block of Huntington Lane Northwest in Rochester and smelled smoke.
The group found the deck area at the back of the house in flames, and called 911.
Everyone in the house, including two pets, made it out ok.
Officials say the fire was short-lived, but did move from the outside of the house to the inside before it was extinguished, leaving the home too damaged to be returned to immediately.
The Red Cross assisted the family with locating shelter for the night.
No word yet on the cause of the fire, or amount of damage done. Fire officials say their investigation is continuing.
