AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- Two women learn their fate for allegedly stealing checks and using an Austin man to cash them.

Lilly Garcia and Irma Sanchez, both of Gordonsville, were each sentenced in Mower County Court Friday to five years supervised probation. Both pleaded guilty in April to one count of check forgery.

According to the criminal complaints, the women cashed checks last summer through a person who runs a check-cashing business in Austin.

He found his account had a negative balance of 8-thousand dollars and called police.

The checks were all from Bridley's Auto Sales in Glenville, now known as Gaines Auto Salvage.

According to the owner, Garcia and Sanchez had allegedly broken into his garage and stole old checks.
