ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The preliminary numbers are in, and attendance at this year's Olmsted County Fair looks like it was the best ever.
Terry Leary, Olmsted County Fair Board President, said attendance at the 2013 fair, which wrapped up its 2013 run on Sunday in Rochester, is estimated at 131,000 visitors.
In 2012, officials said about 100,000 people came out to see the animals and attractions. The fair's previous attendance record was 121,000.
And with the increase in attendance, came an increase in sales, too. Officials said food sales were up 30 percent at hot vendors.
Cold treat vendors were up about 10 percent, even with Saturday's cool temperatures.
The fair board also granted the midway company, Gold Star Amusements, a six year contract extension.
