AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC)--The Community Home Improvement Project, or CHIP, is reparing seven homes in Austin this month.  Saturday's project got extra help from the "Craftsman" brand and SEARS as they tour the country to help in special community projects like CHIP.

The owner of the home in Austin is receiving a new porch, windows, doors and insulation.

"I think it's a great venture," said Karen Mattson with Austin's Housing and Redevelopment Authority.  "It's just such a show of collaboration between different agencies and community members. It's just a thrill to be part of it."

"My husband and I have been a position previously where we needed help from the community," said Daneen Theobauld, a volunteer.  "Today, we're able to give back, which is a really wonderful thing."

Chip is a collaborative effort of Austin's Vision 2020 community pride and spirit committee, the Austin Housing and Redevelopment Committee and Freeborn-Mower County Habitat for Humanity.
