MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) -- An autopsy shows a Mason City man found dead in his home died of multiple stab wounds.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports assistant Iowa state medical examiner Michele Catellier says 73-year-old Tom Barlas Sr. died of "multiple incised wounds."
Catellier says the wounds are consistent with being caused by a knife, but she didn't identify the weapon used.
Police have charged Barlas' 42-year-old son in the killing.
Tom Barlas Jr., of Mason City, is charged with first-degree murder. He's being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.
