UPDATE: Authorities ID victim in Goodhue County car/scooter crash
RED WING, Minn. (KTTC) -- Authorities have released the name of a 49-year-old Red Wing man on killed Wednesday morning in a car/scooter crash on Highway 61.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the victim as Michael Szymanski. Authorities said the crash happened just before 6 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 61 at Hill Street.
29-year-old Nicholas Sparby of Red Wing was driving a 2005 Chevy Malibu and was turning left on Highway 61 when he collided with Szymanski, who was driving a 2007 Schwinn moped scooter and traveling eastbound on the highway. Police said Sparby had no apparent injuries in the crash.
Red Wing police, ambulance and fire assisted at the scene. The crash continues to be investigated.
