Autopsy: Wis. man found dead near river drowned

Posted:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- An autopsy finds drowning was the likely cause of death of a Wisconsin man whose body was found on the Minnesota shore of the St. Croix River in May.

Fifty-four-year-old Donald Marklowitz Junior of Baldwin, Wisconsin was found dead near the river in Lakeland on May 14th.

Marklowitz's family had reported him missing April 16th and said he may have been suicidal.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Ramsey County medical examiner found Marklowitz's death was caused by "probable fresh water drowning."

Nothing was revealed in a toxicology screening. Foul play was not suspected.
