Olmsted County Fair booming

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The combination of food animas and rides has led to the biggest opening night in over 10 years.

"This is back to the old days ten years ago. This is what we want to see," said Terry Leary of the Olmsted County Fair.

The nice weather no doubt played a role, but other factors went into this huge night in the making.

"It's getting out to the community that we really are a free fair and then we're trying to bring in more grounds entertainment, that is free," said Leary.

For some the food may be good, others the animals, but if it's the thrills you're seeking, the Olmsted County Fair is the place to be. If screaming is your thing look no further than the midway, which is the largest is the fairs history.

"There's something for everyone out here," said Richard Hanson of Gold Star Amusements.

And having them all paid off.

"Gold star has been here for four years. Last night was the biggest opening night that we've ever had," said Hanson.

So if you like the slow rides, or the fast ones

If you like rides, this is the place to be," said Hanson.

And will keep adding people to the tally of a very good opening night.
