Rochester man organizes pickup basketball tournament

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A pickup basketball game, aimed at keeping teens busy and safe during the summer, will be held on Saturday.

Teddy Collins of Rochester is organizing the tournament.

Teddy lost his own brother to gun violence in 1994, and doesn't want to see similar tragedies in Rochester.

He hopes this tournament can offer kids an alternative to any negative influences in their lives.

"This tournament is a 4 on 4 basketball tournament here at East Park, aimed to keep the teens off of the streets and give the teens something for them to do that's positive in our community," Collins said.

Registration for the tournament has already ended, but people are encouraged to attend the event and enjoy some good, competitive basketball.

Games will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. at East Park in Rochester.
