AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Hormel Foundation is matching state funding by donating $13.5 million for the $27 million expansion of The Hormel Institute in Austin.
An additional $9.5 million was awarded by the foundation to be used for recruitment of top scientists, equipping the labs with state of the art equipment and creating a work environment for cancer research.
The expansion of the Institute, which is set to break ground in 2014, could bring in as many as 20 new laboratories.
The expansion could also add up to 100 new jobs to Austin.
