ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Recent layoffs have left hundreds of IBM employees without of job. But even with those layoffs, local officials say there are still opportunities out there for anyone out of work.
Officials point to a number of other tech-companies in the Rochester and Twin City areas that people can look into for possible jobs.
Rochester Area Economic Development President Gary Smith says Hitachi is one company in the area currently growing and will hire as it expands.
Another option is working from home.
Smith believes the future in tech jobs looks good.
"The business accelerator itself, we started out with an idea in October of 2012 and then March of this year 2013 and so in just a relatively short time we have opened that facility up and we're sitting here today June 27th is it? June 27th and there are 14 startup companies are in that accelerator over there," Smith said Thursday.
Smith mentioned another option would be to start their own tech company.
