CHOICE, Minn. (KTTC) -- The raging South Fork of the Root River washed away the approach to the Highway 43 bridge near Choice early Sunday, and now MnDOT repair crews are on the job.

Photos taken of the bridge during the day on Sunday show the strain put on the structure by the ferocious current, and how the approach was washed away.

MnDOT spokesperson Kristin Kammueller says Highway 43 remains closed from Fillmore Co. Road 10 to Co. Road 12 during the repair job.  She is estimating that detours will be in place until July 10.
