ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A mother's love for her son suffering with a debilitating illness has lead to a life of volunteering for Kelly McLain-- our latest honoree in the KTTC/United Way of Olmsted County '10 Who Make A Difference'.
Kelly McLain spends about 80 hours a month running the orgainzation: "Help One Love One".
She got the idea for the organization through her son's diagnosis of cystic fibrosis.
People with this disease need to consume 4-thousand calories a day...and some struggle with the expense of buying large amounts of food along with medications.
Kelly began raising money and the agency now supplements the grocery budget of 8 people.
"I have a son with cystic fibrosis, so we have lived with this disease for 33 years now and we have just lived the gamut. We know what it's like to not have enough sometimes so you know it just makes me very passionate to want to help people," McLain said.
Thanks for all you do, Kelly. And congratulations on being one of our '10 Who Make A Difference'!
