Lourdes principal resigns, cites personal reasons

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Rochester Catholic Schools has released a statement, after the principal of Rochester's Lourdes High School submitted a letter of resignation Thursday.

Suzanne Lagerwaard had served the past year at Lourdes, and it has been marked by some turmoil.

The firing of a theology teacher in January created a protest movement inside Lourdes, and one parent estimates that up to a dozen teachers and staff have left since Lagerwaard took over.

Rochester Catholic Schools released a statement this morning that Lagerwaard is leaving for personal reasons.

A call to Lagerwaard has not been returned.
