ASHLAND, Wisconsin (KTTC) -- One of the men killed in a plane crash in northwestern Wisconsin Sunday was a doctor at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. His brother was the other victim.
63-year-old Dr. Rick Renwick worked as an OB/GYN in La Crosse and Viroqua, according to Gundersen's web site.
Sheriff Mick Brennan identifies Renwick's younger brother, 58-year-old Bruce Renwick from Waunakee, as the other person in the plane.
Brennan said Dr. Renwick was piloting the Piper Comanche when it went down south of a runway on Madeline Island in northwestern Wisconsin Saturday evening and became engulfed in flames.
A witness told sheriff's investigators the pilot was trying to land the plane, then aborted the landing and turned to make a second approach before it went down.
The Federal Aviation Administration's registry lists a La Crosse company as the owner of the plane.
