HARMONY, Minn. (KTTC) -- Neighbors and volunteers celebrated the completion of a Habitat for Humanity home for a mother and her five children Monday in Harmony.
Habitat for Humanity has worked with Teri Root and her family toward the completion of her home since last April.
Root completed 300 hours of sweat equity helping to build her home over the last year with the help of her friends, family and children.
Habitat for Humanity held the dedication ceremony this evening for the Root family, volunteers and donors involved.
A dedication involves a house blessing, introduction of the family and a presentation of various housewarming gifts.
The dedication ended with a picnic to show the appreciation for the volunteers and donors support over the last two years.
Root says this home isn't just a house but a place to help them move forward in their lives. "It's a lot of work but it is an amazing, amazing feeling to know that not only were you chosen but the community supports you and habitat supports you and I mean you create so many more relationships and it's just an amazing, amazing thing," Root said Monday.
The family will close on their home within the next two weeks. Afterward they will finally move into the home they spent over a year building.
