Crews battle house fire in Winona

WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- It was a frightening moment last night in Winona, when 3 firefighters battling a blaze fell through the roof of a home.

The fire broke out at about 8 p.m. Monday on the 700 block of West King Street in Winona.

The Winona Fire Department tells us the building, which houses 3 apartments, is believed to be a total loss.

Fire officials say after the fire was out, 3 assisting Goodview firefighters were helping with overhaul, when the roof they were standing on collapsed.

The good news is, none were seriously hurt. One of the firefighters, however, was taken to the hospital with an ankle injury.

Officials say everyone who was home at the time of the fire made it out safely.

As of 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, crews were still on scene investigating.
