A Cedar Rapids woman won the crown in the Mrs. Iowa America 2013 competition.
Feryl York is a speaker for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She also co-founded an organization called "Live...Learn...Survive," which increases awareness for people impacted by the blood cancers.
According to York's website, her mother is her inspiration. She says her mother is currently battling chronic myelogenous leukemia.
York will travel to Tucson, Arizona, in August to compete in the national competition.
