Ducklings rescued in northwest Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A rescue operation was underway in Northwest Rochester Monday morning-- as just hours after hatching, a dozen ducklings found themselves in a desperate situation.

One mother duck woke up concerned residents in a northwest Rochester neighborhood with cries for help from the sewer.

One of the residents in the neighborhood had been watching the nest in his back yard after discovering it in his back yard a few weeks ago.

Monday morning, the nest was empty and the mother was walking around with no babies. Upon further investigation noises were heard from down inside the storm drain.

Never fear, the family was reunited when workers from Rochester Animal Control and Rochester Public Works helped to rescue the ducklings from the drain.

9 of the 12 ducklings were recovered, the other three were believed to be roaming the neighborhood.
