ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- As Rochester grows, developers are working to develop new housing projects. However, one possible project in Southwest Rochester has neighbors concerned.
Neighbors near the proposed Fox Hill Villas development say they're not against development, but say that proposed development in their area could be detrimental to the neighborhood.
Dan Johnson says when he moved in 6 years ago, he was told developers would be putting in single family homes in the area behind his home. But now, he says the developers John Klopp and Mark Hanson plan to put multi-family units in that area.
Johnson says that would create too much traffic in a neighborhood that already has traffic problems.
"I'm not against building new houses or building a housing development. I'm just against having a more dense populated, multi family property there with increased traffic," Johnson said Thursday.
Johnson says he also has concerns about wildlife in the wooded area behind his home, and neighbors would like to see a study done about the birds that live there.
Johnson says neighbors plan to ask planning and zoning to reject the a zoning change that and keep the neighborhood only single family homes.
