ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Fifty years ago-- in 1963-- the average price for a gallon of gas was 30-cents. John F. Kennedy was in the White House. And Kellogg Middle School was a brand-new junior high school in Rochester.
The school is celebrating its 50 year anniversary with several events this weekend. A museum has been set up at the school showcasing artifacts that made a significant impact on people at the time.
There are items like Remington typewriters, screen projectors and old uniforms.
Kellogg's longest tenured teacher is Karen Sabatke. She's been teaching there for 28 years but she points out, while she's been there the longest, she isn't the oldest!
The 50th anniversary celebration will continue Friday night. More than 200 retired and current staff are expected to come together at Kellogg for a reunion and dinner.
