ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)- With Destination Medical Center in the front of our minds, it raises the question about what the future holds for Rochester. Saying that, there may be plenty already to do in Rochester before the transformation even begins.
Now that the nice weather may be here to stay, people are coming out to bring in the summer by enjoying great food, music and fun. We decided to take a look myself to see if Rochester is a Destination "Fun City."
Canvas and Chardonnay was packed full of people who wanted to spend their Friday night with friends and some paint.
"Well, I know that there was that Color Me Mine studio, and I've done that before and that was really fun," says Danna Ness of Rochester. "I really just like painting and doing crafts in general, so this is definitely up my alley and something I will definitely do again."
It has something for everyone that may be interested in crafts, but the best quality of this location may be the atmosphere.
"Well, I don't really drink, but I don't mind if other people do," says Ness. "Yeah, definitely having the beverages and friends is really a fun atmosphere."
A staple of Rochester for more than 30 years is Flamingo Bingo. The business has been in their current location for 25 years and welcomes in rooms full of people looking to have fun and earn some money.
Another hot spot in downtown Rochester is Papageorge's and Michael's.
"It's one of our favorite places, between Papageorges and Michaels," says Steve and Pam Holty of Rochester. "I guess our favorite kind of the local establishments, many times more than the chain type of restaurant."
What may draw more people to this spot is the option for live music, which plenty of people took advantage of.
"It was really great tonight," says Steve.
"We just decided last minute to come out here," Pam shared. "We didn't come because we knew the band was coming here, we came and really enjoyed it."
"We stayed extra long because of the band," Steve added. "It was really, really good."
So the evidence has been placed in front of you, it is for you to judge. Yet, a quick stroll downtown and you could quickly find yourself having a fun time.
