Gov. Dayton appoints new District Court Judge

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KTTC) -- Gov. Mark Dayton has appointed a new District Court Judge in Minnesota's Third Judicial District in Preston.

Matthew J. Opat will replace the Honorable Robert R. Benson, who retired earlier this year.

Opat replaces the Honorable Robert R. Benson, who retired earlier this year.

Opat has a private law practice in Chatfield, Matthew J. Opat, P.A.

He also serves as the prosecutor for the city of Chatfield in petty misdemeanor, misdemeanor, and gross misdemeanor violations.
