Near EYOTA, Minn. (KTTC) -- After a long history of accidents at the intersection of Highway 14 and 42 near Eyota, MnDOT is taking some temporary actions before putting in a permanent solution.
Senator Carla Nelson announced yesterday that there will be flashing L-E-D lights on both sides of Highway 42.
the "stop ahead" message will be re-painted and, thanks to the request of many Eyota residents, the rumble strips on both sides of Highway 42 will be re-installed.
These changes come after a fatal crash earlier this year, taking the life of Marvin Jech of Rochester.
MNDOT says the long-term plan will most likely be a round-about at the intersection, but Senator Nelson says that option is still four to five years away.
