Hundreds turn out for Rochester's 5K Color Run

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Hundreds of runners came out for Rochester's first-ever 5K color dash run.  Participants wear white T-shirts as spectators throw colored powder on runners at each kilometer.

People of all ages took part in the non-competitive, technicolor run.  The event also featured a dance-off and costume contest.

"Today was really hot," said Ben Riley.  "I guess I don't run a lot, but I wanted to come out because my wife kind of pushed me out the door today and had a great time--it was hot in the woopie cushion costume."

The run will benefit multiple youth programs like the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester and Child Care Resource Referral Head Start.

KTTC's sister station The CW sponsored the run. The CW's Kelsey Hinkel was on hand at the event.
