ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Rochester man has learned he is now facing attempted murder charges, after a woman was assaulted with a baseball bat last fall.
This case of domestic abuse first happened last year, and because it was so graphic, law enforcement urged that it get charged out as an attempted murder case rather than just assault.
Today, a judge okayed that complaint, charging 33-year-old Chad Christensen with attempted murder.
In October of last year, Christensen alledgedly broke into his estranged wife's home and hit her in the head with a baseball bat.
She told officers he strangled her and attempted to twist her neck
Christensen has prior convictions for domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and violating a no-contact order.
He's scheduled for a jury trial on May 20th.
