ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- This week is National Volunteer Appreciation Week and Tuesday, Mayo Clinic employees took time out to show their appreciation.
At a breakfast Tuesday morning, Mayo Clinic honored the more than 1,500 volunteers that dedicate their time to the clinic.
Mayo officials say the volunteers do everything from helping patients get where they need to be, to giving what they can to help them relax.
Their efforts allow the employees of Mayo the opportunity to focus on what they do best, and still know that their patients are well taken care of.
Officials say the total number of hours volunteers contributed in 2012 surpassed 153,000.
