CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (KTTC) -- A Clear Lake police officer was taken to the emergency room after being the victim of a rear-end crash by a drunken driver.
The incident happened just after 2 a.m. Friday in Clear Lake.
Lieutenant Paul Chizek was able to radio an ambulance and other officers for help.
Meanwhile, Clear Lake police and Cerro Gordo County deputies apprehended the driver, Steven Orta, and booked him for drunken driving.
His brother, Ryan Orta, was his passenger and fled police.
He was also apprehended and arrested for public intoxication.
Lieutenant Chizek was treated for a head laceration.
