Storm blows through north Iowa

Near CRESCO, Iowa (KTTC) -- In North Iowa, people are cleaning up in areas, after strong winds caused significant damage overnight.

Powerful straight line winds moved through parts of the area Tuesday night, knocking out power, tearing up rooftops.

A strong gust of wind even blew over a cattle trailer around 11 p.m. near Cresco, just south of the intersection of highway 63 and highway 9. We're told no cattle were inside at the time, and no one was seriously hurt.

We were also told Power was knocked out on the south side of Cresco..but was restored within an hour or so.

Also, the strong thunderstorm dumped a lot of rain in a short amount of time. And there was a lot of water to deal with within 24 hours-- reports say the area saw between 2-and-a-half and 3-inches of rain.
