ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Five teachers were terminated and not given a renewal of contracts at Monday night's Austin School Board Meeting.
School Officials call it standard procedure.
Teachers in the Intervention, Language Arts, Math and SPED departments were laid off. Fifty teachers were employed at the first of the year.
Five are being let go.
Director of Human Resources Mary Burroughs says termination occurs for various reasons, including class enrollment changes, licensure issues and performance concerns.
Burroughs says these teachers are evaluated throughout the school year before a final decision is made.
