Hayfield Community Schools web site shows a vacancy at the top of the School Board
HAYFIELD, Minn. (KTTC) -- The chairperson of the Hayfield School Board, Len Oelkers, has resigned with nearly two more years left to go in his current term.
Hayfield Community Schools superintendent Ron Evjen tells KTTC NewsCenter that Oelkers submitted a letter of resignation in mid-March, citing "personal reasons" for his decision to step down. The Hayfield School Board has not yet met since Oelkers' resignation, but will meet Monday night and will be greeted with an empty chair at the table. Oelkers has served about ten years.
Evjen said the school board members will select a new leader from among themselves, and will then have to appoint a person to fill out Oelkers' term, which ends in December, 2014. Lana Mindrup is currently the Vice-Chairperson of the Hayfield School Board.
